Newborn Photos / Josefine / Middletown RI

Yay! It felt so good to shoot this sweet little pumpkin. This was my first newborn portrait session since we moved to the new England area. It was so fantastic having my in-home studio area (which is about three times as large as the spaces I’ve had available to use the last several years…). It felt really good to be able to lay all the newborn stuff out and not be buried under it or feel like everything was really cluttered and cramped.

I realize I say it a lot, but I’m continually blown away by how amazing the people are that I get to meet through photography.  I really loved meeting and working with this cute baby and her wonderful parents. They were so friendly, happy, and easy to talk to.  There were a lot of things I learned about them that made me think “me too!” .  All of their first names start with the letter “J” (all of my siblings names growing up start with the letter “R”).  They’re families love family history and they can trace their ancestors all the way back to the pilgrims first coming to America (me too!).  Sweet little baby Josefine’s name is a family name on both sides (that’s just cool). Dad is a pilot in the military (my husband is an aerospace optometrist for the Navy).  Mom is a teacher (that’s what I got my degree in before I had my first child).

Josefine made an early entrance into the world. She is actually a month old.  I am so grateful for modern medicine that supports babies who might need help until their bodies are ready to do it on their own. I’m so glad that they decided to still do newborn photos even though there were a lot of unexpected things going on.  It’s so easy to get busy and overwhelmed when a new baby arrives (and it’s even harder when you have unexpected things happen) but it’s so important to document as much of it as you can. They change so fast and time goes quickly.

Honestly, though, she’s pretty perfect, isn’t she?
